Holland, Bernard. "In Praise of Early Music." New York Times 22 May 1983: n. pag. Print. Concerts of contemporary music would attract two kinds of audience-small, specialized and enthusiastic or large, general and hostile. However, gatherings celebrating the Baroque era, Renaissance, and Middle Ages are attracting not only classic music listeners, but also people who previously showed little interest in classical music at all. But, many who now look into these old styles of music claim to play “authentically” and advertise their program as not only ways to recall a past but to also relive it. They do not focus as much on the music alone, which is partly the fault of the change of instruments, pitch, and uniformity.
